Coach Mentoring and Supervision Services

... in relation to the ICF Core Competencies

Having a skilled mentor with whom you can reflect on the coaching process and together explore what is happening, including your own approach, reactions, inklings and strategies, is an invaluable developmental support long used and expected in other professions.

It gives you an opportunity to shine a spotlight on your coaching and to gain insight and support.

We provide one to one and group support for coaches who are committed to continually improving their own awareness and skills, and who want to consistently:

  • Work ethically and establish clear agreements
    • Become familiar with, refer and adhere to the code of ethics.
    • Clarify and check with the client that they share common understandings and expectations of the coaching process.

  • Create and maintain clear, honest and empowering relationships
    • It takes time, attention and practice to develop a quality of presence which ensures that coaching works both deeply and thoroughly enough that sustainable change really happens.
    • Creating an atmosphere of safety, respect and rapport with the client needs an ability and willingness to see and meet each client as a unique, changing individual. This in turn requires you to be aware of and put aside your own agendas, prejudices and limitations.
    • Hence the coach needs to continually hone their awareness of themselves, their agendas and motivations so that they can fully serve, be present and dance with the client in the moment. This requires being willing to acknowledge and explore their own reactions and inklings with a mentor.

  • Communicate effectively, flexibly and powerfully with the changing needs of clients
    • Dancing with the client is a major and complex skill which makes powerful coaching light and potent at the same time. First and foremost it requires the self awareness and clear presence of the coach.
    • From that place of being present and responsive to the client in the moment, active listening, powerful questioning, direct communication and clear language are then required to draw the client forth, clarify what they want and move them forward. What you are currently doing and other options can be explored and practiced with a mentor.

  • Facilitating Learning and Results
    • With a mentor you can explore what is currently happening and the different approaches to raising clients awareness and ownership in their life and projects.
    • Reflection and role play can be used to more deeply understand where the client is coming from and to generate effective strategies for both how you coach them and what will move them forward.
    • You can also explore how and when to manage progress and accountability and different ways to deal with and motivate the client, while keeping them responsible for their own choices and actions.
